Everything is basically a search engine for your PC. Everything: Steam is the main PC gaming platform, but you’ll likely have games from various storefronts installed on your PC.Revo also cleans up leftovers after the uninstall, which Windows doesn’t offer. The app makes it easier to uninstall programs by giving you a single window with all of your apps, and it allows you to uninstall a program simply by right-clicking it. Revo: The Windows Control Panel sucks. It makes it easy to spot folders hogging space and allows you to drill down on areas where you can free up storage. WinDirStat offers a visual overview of your hard drive. WinDirStat: Your hard drive may be clean now, but it’ll probably be stuffed full within a few months. If you want to experiment with other software, here are some good options to add to your installer: Grab your gaming software, maybe mix in Spotify if you have a subscription, and you should be good. You probably already know what you need here. Check the boxes next to the programs you want, and Ninite will create a custom installer with all of your selections. Ninite puts all of the basics in one spot. You need Steam and Discord on your gaming laptop, at least, as well as a browser if you don’t want to use Microsoft Edge. But if you're going to go a stint of a week or more without using it, it's best to uninstall it.Ninite (Chrome, Steam, Discord) Image used with permission by copyright holder My advice is if you're going to use it regularly, that's fine. I don't know why Razer forces itself to update and turn on in the background although I do have suspicions (they were caught collecting personal data from users and selling it without their permission back in 2018). There's no way to prevent it from doing this. You have to manually go into task manager and close out no less than 3 Razer programs operating in the background. Even if you right click on Razer in your hidden icons tab, and tell the program to close, it won't. The reason why I call it spamware is that even if you have auto updates turned off and have Razer disabled in the startup programs list, Razer will still auto update itself about once a week and will turn itself on in the background, eating up a portion of CPU. Keeping in mind that a lot of features are locked behind a paywall. I've played emulator games with graphics mods and it definitely helps with fps and processing speed. My multi year experience is that Razer Cortex is that it's low level spamware.įirst off, it's free software.
